In the culture of the day, girls married young, perhaps 13-16 years old.About your age!  Joseph was probably a little older, Jewish men usually married around 18-20 years old. As the baby Jesus’ legal father, this made Jesus part of the line of King David which was a necessary qualification for the Messiah.

Overshadow: v35 “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you”

This was an Old Testament word that signified the Presence of God and His glory.  e.g. Exodus 4:35; and Psalm 91:4

Mary was young, poor and lived in the ‘wrong’ place (does anything good come out of Nazareth? John 1:46). Yet she did not hesitate to obey God, no excuses.
