One thing we love in the summer is holiday clubs! Over the summer many churches will be putting on holiday clubs for children to come and take part in all sorts of fun Bible based activities, crafts and games.

Last week Lancaster Baptist Church did just that ,inviting children to explore the story of David. Throughout the week we looked at: David the Shepherd (and God our Good Shepherd), David the Champion (and God our Champion), David the songwriter (and God who is singing a song of love over us) and David the King (and God our great King over all!)

What a week we had welcoming children and families from Lancaster Baptist Church, the wider Church and no church background at all. It was a wonderfully welcoming, fun and lively space, only made possible with such a fabulous team giving up their week (and many weeks beforehand!) serving, creating, working and planning to make it all happen.

One of the wonderful things about holiday club is the enthusiasm and willingness of young people to come alongside and serve. What a fantastic example they can be to children. It’s amazing to see the impact young people can have as children watch, just a few years ahead, loving and living for Jesus. For children to see what this looks like in all stages of life makes so much difference. It was fabulous to see young people getting stuck in and giving up their time to help disciple these children. Here’s what one of the young leaders, Renay said about the week:

“This year went so well, I really enjoyed the crafts, songs and challenges that linked well to our bible stories of David. So much love and effort was put into 4 days and it definitely shone through.” (Renay, 17).
