I’m Beth and this year I’m taking a GAP year before going to university in September. I knew I wanted and needed a Christian element to my year out. I decided to give up my Wednesdays and go and volunteer in the chaplaincy at Ripley secondary school alongside Michael the Chaplain and Jonny from NISCU. I had the great privilege a few weeks ago of leading worship for all the pupils across the week. I shared a message of hope that I feel is so relevant for everyone and thought I’d share a slice of that hope now.
Jeremiah 29:11 is God speaking to the Jews living in exile he says, ‘For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord plans to prosper you and not to harm you plans to give you a hope and a future.’ I don’t know what your plans are for this year. Maybe you have things you’re looking forward to or maybe things you might be anxiously awaiting. For me this year is going to be a year of big change as I prepare to start university and move away from home. Although I’m feeling nervous, I know I have a hope greater than anything this world could promise us. My hope is in a God who’s perfectly planned out my year and knows all that’s going to happen. I trust that his perfect plan for my life is going to be the best and that he will give me great strength for all the challenges I will face. So, I challenge you to put your trust in God and take hold of his wonderful hope and his perfect plan for your life. It’s the best thing I ever did!
