Saturday: Breakfast is waiting
When they got there, they found breakfast waiting for them
—fish cooking over a charcoal fire, and some bread.

So, picture this, Peter who has majorly let Jesus down – denying Him and leading the others away to go fishing for fish – hears that Jesus is on the shore, he jumps in the water and swims to Him. I wonder if at any point in those 100 yards Peter had a nagging concern of ‘How will Jesus respond to me?’
Hmmmmmmm… you know where this is going, if you were (are) Peter, what would you feel?
Well, here is some good news, that I/we need to really learn (and then really tell our young people who live in a massive culture of meeting everyone else’s expectations).
When Peter (and the other teenagers) got to shore, ‘they found breakfast waiting for them’.
Even after a night of doing something that He may not have wanted them to do, even after they walked away from what He has asked them to do ‘they found breakfast waiting for them’.
They don’t find Jesus shouting at them, berating them, making them feel small and insecure, ‘they found breakfast waiting for them’.
He hasn’t ignored them and moved on to others who might not let Him down, ‘they found breakfast waiting for them’.
What is the one thing that most teenagers will really want after working a physical job all night…‘they found breakfast waiting for them’.
This is truly good news for you and the children/young people in your community. Jesus doesn’t come to shout, berate, condemn, ignore us. He comes to meet us where we are at, support us in that moment of need, build our Strength for the work of today, and fill us with Hope for tomorrow.
To do today:
Give thanks for God’s incredible plan and enjoy His love and grace today. From your list of children and young people yesterday, maybe choose three, and spend some time praying for them specifically.
