‘Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it…..Keep company with me’
1 Peter 3:15
‘Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.’
The Creme Egg Quest is a lunchtime Easter event that NISCU North Lancs ran at Lancaster Royal (Boys) Grammar, among other high schools. Students come with questions for NISCU staff and volunteers and leave with a creme egg. I had a group of highly intelligent 6th formers with thought-provoking questions. I didn’t have all the answers, but I did have a tactic I learned from Jesus….when people came to him with difficult questions, he often responded by:
Asking a question
Telling a story
Pointing out the miraculous
Giving a convincing theological answer to students who are more academic than me is not my forte. Asking a question back to listen to their perspective or sharing a story of personal tragedy (my 34 year old brother left this earth due to aggressive brain tumours) where miraculous, unexplainable peace has flooded my heart and I’ve been fearless and held by God….now that I can do because I have kept company with Jesus….and so can you! Use your life stories to give reason for your hope.
