I wasn’t brought up in church, apart from a brief time going to Sunday school. My family didn’t attend church, nor did they show any interest in Jesus.

I became a follower of Jesus in my late 50’s. One day I was listening to a well-known Bible teacher, talking about the Magnificat, Mary’s song of praise to God. She says of God, ‘for He has looked on the humble estate of his servant’. (Luke 1:48)

Mary was an ordinary young woman, not from a wealthy family with status, she is astounded God would notice her.

It struck me that I am from a poor family. I have no qualifications, I have been single since my mid 20’s, a single Mam and I really have lived my life as seemingly invisible.  I haven’t had a career, I’m not wealthy and have no social status and in all my struggles it seemed I was very much alone.

But Jesus saw me. He noticed me. He looked upon my lowly estate.

He has known me since eternity past. Psalm 139 describes just that – He even knows my words before I say them!

It would be easy for me to imagine that people have treated me badly. But, I haven’t always been kind to other people. Jesus has seen everything, but He still loves me.

It would be easy for me to think my life has been tough. But then I remember how much Jesus has done for me. His love is so much more than I can imagine.

And He has gone to prepare a place for me in heaven.

However difficult things get here in my lifetime, Jesus promised a place with no more tears, or pain or sadness.

All because, He noticed me.
